WELCOME TO TOKUWAKAN
History:
The UCF TokuWaKan system has influences from several Asian martial arts, but finds its roots primarily in MooDukKwan Tae Kwon Do, and Aikido.
MooDukKwan (Japanese: Butokukan, English: Institute of Martial Virtue) was founded by Hwang Kee shortly following the end of World War II; it was one of the four original schools of Tae Kwon Do formalized in Korea. Today:
As the name implies, TokuWaKan endeavors to produce students that will serve as leaders and role models in their communities.
Through dealing with the ultimate stressor, physical violence, students are better able to cope with the everyday stressors that tend to disturb one's inner harmony. The trained student, enabled with physical skills, is also able to take action when the occasion deems it necessary to fearlessly use their might for right. Who can join?
We welcome all students regardless of experience and level of fitness. Only UCF students and alumni are allowed to practice at our dojo on campus. We typically communicate through our Facebook Group and we officially register our membership through OrgSync. Once you make an account through OrgSync you must join both of the groups for KnightSync and TokuWaKan.
Where do we practice? Our training hall (dojo) is located inside the Ferrell Auditorium in the Ferrell Commons.

Why Join?
As martial artists we strive to perfect our art through repetition, practice, and kata (forms). After many subsequent days of practice students will notice improvements in flexibility, balance, coordination and overall physical fitness.
Effective practice and comprehension of martial arts allows a student to learn proper self-defense principles and techniques, preparing him or her for any violence or aggression outside the dojo.
As part of TokuWakan, students enjoy a sense of camaraderie with each other, creating a lasting community throughout their martial arts and academic career.
If you have the drive and patience, join our humble and well-humored club and experience the world of martial arts.

What to expect:
TokuWakan follows a traditional martial arts hierarchy where students show respect to all instructors and senior students above them.
Unlike the strictest dojos, TokuWakan welcomes a sense of humor during practice without hindering the training process.
Each semester we participate in volunteer opportunities around UCF and Orlando as a means of serving the community while also fulfilling our duties as a sports club within the UCF Sports Club Council.
We have club-sponsored social events within and outside of UCF to have fun and relax as a team. Bowling at Boardwalk, canoeing at Wekiwa river, playing paintball, and movie night are the many opportunities we spend together as a team to foster camaraderie and simply take a break from school, life, and even working out.
Every semester each member and officer of TokuWakan is expected to pay club dues. The collected dues in addition to money from fundraising go to the payment of events, such as the Kenpo Seminar, and any club-related purchases (boards for breaking, belts, etc). Students are expected to buy their own uniforms. For more information on uniforms, click here.
